Bamberg around the 1630th. Cornelius (Mark Waschke) rushes away from his medical research in advanced Vienna to Bamberg to his dying father. There he meets his childhood sweetheart Johanna (Silke Bodenbender). He is fascinated by the wise woman who leads the pharmacy of her father - for a woman not a hazardous undertaking. Cornelius isn't fascinated by the residual Bamberg. He wants to return to Vienna but suddenly he is committed by the bishop of Dornheim (Paulus Manker). Cornelius and Johanna get into a spell of denunciation, arrest and execution.
